EGONOKI='EGO'+'NOKI'.'NOKI' means 'tree', so names of many tree in Japan include this word. For instance, KAKINOKI, SHARANOKI, SAKURANOKI, ....
The home of EGONOKI is Japan.
And by wikipedia, english name is Japanese snowbell.I don't know it is correct or not.
The flowers in spring are lot. The shape likes bell.
The color is white, sometime pink(called 'BENIBANA EGONOKI').
In autumn, many seed hang from the narrow branches. The seeds contain saponin, so the seed tasts very bitter. In japanese, tast like that says 'EGOI'. This is the origin of the japanese name.
